Given the amount of money our hospital system has poured into EPIC it would be nice for the company to come up with a app that is actually helpful to physicians. iPad will need LTE connection or link to a LTE connected device. Another issue is that it works poorly or not at all on Wi-Fi. Also as a warning, using it during international conferences will require special permission from your IT department, otherwise it is completely nonfunctional. This is basically a glorified iPad version of Haiku with nearly all its limitations. Very disappointing! One would think that this app would be useful at those times when you are away from a workstation or at a conference and want to pull up a patients notes and edit them on your iPad. It’s too bad because I can’t even use Epic via Citrix since last Epic update without it crashing within 5 minutes on my iPad Pro. This could easily be the go to place for bedside and/or ward documentation, but for now, it’s just wishful thinking. What could be a supreme utility that saves time in countless ways throughout your day is, instead, a glorified version of Haiku and with all too similar limitations. Unfortunately, this app falls short in all areas that matter. Want to find those final Microbiology results? Too bad, that’s too “old” for the app to display it. Why, do you ask? If you are looking for a useful tablet app with more utility than Haiku (iPhone app), then you will not find it here.
